clandestine techno/house imprint, meanwhile records reveals a one-off opus from two highly respected techno producers, niels luinenberg (delta funktionen) and samuel van dijk (mohlao). the deeply mystical >inward content< session represents the leuwarden sound of their native north holland (also former home to another master of hypnotic repetition ((of the graphic type)), m.c. escher) with an elegant, classically informed and deeply refined brand of 4/4 also identified on celebrated 12inches for ann aimee and delsin. the albums six tracks use an economical production palette, but we wouldnt call them minimal. the emphasis is on subtly monotone melodic shades, from the rippling black masses of bass which power each track, to the bluest hued pads and unfathomably expansive atmospheres which lend them their spectral grace. listening to this album is almost a mystical experience, like hearing the results of a seance conducted in low-lit surroundings calling upon the spirits of basic channel, convextion and the black dog circa 1995. >inward content< took over two years to assemble and techno connoisseurs can clearly discern why. recommended!

almost three years after their release >lake<, odessa appear appealing their scene again. actually, their privacy breaktime should not have been a musical discontinuance, too. but as it sometimes goes things happen abruptly. although the ep >memory leak< already was pre-produced in 2009 it got just recently a detailed finishing. leave off the idea these tracks could have had their half-life already, not at all. odessa stay here and now, presenting reduced, cool-organic house with wide atmospheres. even though odessa music keeps ascetical aesthetics since the beginning a certain pathos can deeply be felt. once again, but just for one track (>l aurore<), frederique frankes exceptional voice comes to effect.

in its original incarnation, shit robots -losing my patience- – a choice cut from 2010s from the cradle to the rave — strikes a balance between iciness and warmth, with hot chip frontman alexis taylors soulful vocals melting the tracks frosty synthlines. now, hot chip and unabombers remix the track and redefine its feel. hot chips new take on the single mystifies the original with deeply cut grooves, squelching bass and taylors heartbreaking, trilling vocals, pushed to lonesome front and center. the whole procession builds to a climax of chiming keys, striking percussion and synth melodies that corkscrew firmly into your head. the uks unabombers – the dj duo of luke cowdrey and justin crawford – take a cosmic approach, laying down synths that stretch toward infinity and holding off on vocals till near the songs midpoint. the dub remix gains traction and energy in its latter stages, with a heady mix of piercing synth squeals and taylors vocalizations set on repeat, like a mantra urging party goers to the dancefloor

limited pressing on white wax !! sublime deep techno feat. killer sandwell mix... surface re-emerges from the murky depths of londonshire with part 2 of the new project / sub division >beneath the surface<, a series of releases forthcoming sporadically over the next year or so, delving beneath the surface and blurring the boundaries of the deeper shades of house and techno. between worlds sees sandwell district team up with nick dunton of 65d mavericks fame with an ep dedicated to long time friend and nicks fellow maverick richard polson r.i.p. the a side sees nick delivering his trademark emotive sounds.... lush harmonies, deep drones and echoing stabs line the track whilst the phasing drums, keys and melodic sub bass keep the journey moving beautifully towards a crescendo of harmonic drifts. on the flip long time friends of the label sandwell district strip back the layers with a special mix for rich. sandwell move the track towards the dance floor with rumbling bass lines and crisp beats morphing in and out of lush sustained textures. this mix bears all the signatures of yet another classic sandwell district track coupled with a pure and deeply felt emotive touch! timeless and beautiful, this is a heartfelt tribute to richard and is already receiving widespread support from those in the know!

dials sublabel laid comes up again with a double feature for true house music lovers. catalogue number 11 features tracks by uks juergen junker and our wellknown buddy lowtec. after playing together at the legendary sud electronic/ uzuri parties in london efdemin, lawrence and carsten jost fell deeply in love with with juergen junkers amazing dj & live sets and his wonderful productions. his own label neurythmics was like a secret treasure to be explored. followed by a lovely release on efdemins naif imprint he now enteres the laid zone with two deeply rooted house pieces. lowtec has always been a main influence of the dial/laid family and after his huge underground hit of last years workshop ep (laid07 with kassem mosse) he presents a dirty rhodes stomper to hit the house floors again. freaky alert!

marked firmly on our soundcloud page and in various publications: wph does not accept nor listen to demos. a way of working that was shattered when one day red d found a real physical demo in his postbox. from a galaxy far far away called japan came humandrone a.k.a. takaaki shibuya, with his twist on jackin chicago rhythms. a twist deeply melancholic, almost detroit like, showing us that chicago music can be both jackin’ and musical at the same time.

after a furious appearance on cocoon komaton now joins the pro-tez family. >sweet princess< is a bass-bin filling, dance-floor destroying track from the hottest austrian export since arnold schwarzenegger. the a-side has the original version that deeply pulsates through some lonely piano with noise fractals and druggy vocals. it creates subtle sounds building throughout with percussion to excite. a2 follows with a sublime aural dub version by bvoice & khz. on the flip side scsi-9s remix has the power to fill the room with sound in a way that only pro-tez releases do. a must-have!

following the success of his debut ep, komisch is delighted to put out the next instalment from sp-x. like his first release, the three tracks on field lines never end capture the essence of contemporary techno - austere and functional, yet deeply resonating. field construction starts with crackle of a broken power cable accompanying brittle percussion and a juggernaut rhythm, before dank filters, distorted riffs and a combination of doubled up claps and hissing hats bring the track to an irresistibly dark climax. internalize follows a similar path, but straight away sp-x plots a more ominous course, with a muffled filter making way for jarring riffs, a grubby acid line and killer claps. last but certainly not least, flux is constructed using dense rhythms, deadweight, iron bar beats and a howling siren riff that sounds like it came from beyond. all the while, sp-xs rasping, firing percussion weaves in and out. these are deadly effective techno tracks, streamlined for use on big speakers - but dont take our word for it, try them out yourselves!

jane ephex has been a core person of the german electronic scene in the last years as a producer, live act and deejane. she is a well established artist and after many gigs at germanys biggest events like nature one, syndicate, ruhr in love, hellraiser and some magnificent nights in important clubs like butan & fusion everybody should know her name. deeply rooted in the scene with her music, she is considered by many as a woman with multiple musical talents, from straight-up jackin hardtechno to advanced industrial, as well as hardcore (with her synonym e-phex). she already had releases on different labels like hells bangers & tonica and collaborations with minupren and this time with stormtrooper. one of the most talked-about tracks over the past months >angel< finally gets a full release, including the stormtrooper remix! stormtrooper is also responsible for 2 other tracks on this ep: >desdemoni< (together with jane ephex), a massive hardtechno influenced industrial track and >dancing with demons<, which is rather hard & industrial with a very cool groove & drive.

levante is the name of a warm wind, blowing between northern africa and spain during the summer months, a warm wind that especially surfers, but also other kinds of deeply relaxed summer people appreciate a lot. as some surfers and other people require some of this feeling already before next summer, schallbox records associated with monoroom has caught some of this wind and transformed it into levante una, which is basses, waves and beats that will blow some tube-heated pre-summer frenzy through the speakers and on the dancefloors. for an even longer surfing experience and a continued boomy feeling in your knackers (hmm sorry ladies?), martin eyerer, mike wall and steve cole have got their speedoes out and dived into 45°(celsius) warm drums and samples, in order to offer to you their personal renderings of levante una. wasn t there a track once, warm surferette??

argenis brito and los updates. two of the most left -field exponents of chilean dance music armada get together on vinyl. argenis, born in venezuela, was given a chilean club passport by luciano, pier bucci and villalobos a long time ago due to his outstanding services as a producer, singer and overall party raiser. he met los updatess boss jorge gonzalez in new york in 1994, while attending a wu tang clan show. on this brand new release they offer >valparaiso< and >don t take candy from strangers<, you can smell the delicious scent of an instant classic emanating from the deeply grooved wax

dj duke, unsung hero of deep house ingenuity, receives a deserved and absolutely essential reissue from nycs slow to speak imprint. one of the lost masters of the abundant deep house community of the early 1990s, duke epitomized the queen-infused, deeply fierce insular dialogue of new yorks most outcaste underground. part of his ode to deep house staples of yesteryear lost, >heard< live up to their namesake, instrumental electronic masterpieces that disregard the concerns of conventional standardization while retaining the indisputable efficacy of nys exploratory antiestablishment. emotive, depthtful and totally accessible, >core 1995< is the first re-visitation of forward-looking genius that will continue to epitomize slow to speaks retroactive genius, speaking more to the potential inventiveness of dance music than its former vivacity. highly recommended.

vassilis pallas aka v.sexion was born in the late 80s, in a decade when techno and house put its little stone to the music world. in early childhood he found himself shakin in disco tunes moving it up to punk and rock. but it was jazz, afro beats, garage house and urban music that finally deeply influenced him in developing a particular music style...

manuel tur has been making some great music recently, whether it be as one half of the ribn project with partner langenberg, on numerous remixes alongside dplay or solo on a variety of labels such as mild pitch, pokerflat, freerange, mule music, drumpoet and now delusions of grandeur. fianchetto opts for a dark, spaced-out and deeply hypnotic vibe full of warm, subby disco beats, shimmering rhodes and echoing horns. a masterful production from manuel that is loaded with atmosphere and sounds mighty on a big system. next up we have beasts and the birds which goes for a heavy looped up disco approach full of raw detroit sensibilities and attitude. finally, tim toh (much respected and sickeningly young german producer releasing on soulphiction’s philpot label) stretches out beasts and the birds into a 9 minute journey into abstract dance. once again, we’re talking unrefined, no compromise house music here, the likes of which you won’t be hearing on an mos compilation anytime soon

this one is just deeply delicious, no matter if played on low or high volume. fear of flying takes us on a deep flight through dubnesia.

its still like that: even though digital is everywhere there is still something very special about having your own tracks on a vinyl release. so this is it again: the very best of the last releases on koletzki_s sublabel stil vor talent digital on a double-sided vinyl edition. starting off with two tracks by bruch & junior that couldnt be more different: while >fiesta de la residencia< sounds like somebody threw some spanish vocals and trumpets into a pool of tech-house beats and basslines at a maniac afterhour on the white island (ergo: great),>sunset< is the deeply euphoric sound for the morning after. the synthesizers so crisp and all around you, the beat and bassline so warm and seductive: this is purely magical music that will make you forget when the sun went down or up the last time while still making you want to shake your legs to the strong bassline and chunky loop. hit! on the flip then comes a re-work of a massive hit on stil vor talent: a 2010 version of nicones >una rosa< complete with the original spanish vocals, but a much more grooving loop that turns into an absolute percussion fest. claps turn into effects and we all raise our hands to those reverbed original vocals. last up australian murat kilic with the wonderfully oldskool house anthem >summer traffic<: great melodic pads, a superbly harmonic bassline and when the breakdown kicks in, an ever-indulging xylophon melody. this whole record has got summer written all over it and helps us all get through this icy winter.

the yore captain returns to his own yore imprint on the labels 21st release. shadow city presents different visions of funky house grooves. the a sides the y theme gets deeply moving with a funky house pulse before stoking the fire with the addition of speaking voices (trippingly intoning the q&a what are we doing this for? and the music), a move which single-handedly jumpstarts the track. after the voices appear, the grooves intensity escalates and plunges deeper, its gyroscopic house swing becoming more dizzying and torrential with each passing bar before coming to an acidy storming end. in its opening moments, shadow city opts for a deeper and more serenading vibe by comparison, but thats traded in for a slinkier attack at the three-minute mark that grows progressively more ferocious as the track makes its drastic upwards ascent. a trippin dangerous murder weapon to say the least. watch your heads! the b sides b2 track, mumbai dweller keeps the focus primarily on the bottom end, specifically a strutting tribal-house funk groove thats dragged even deeper by a throbbing bass undertow, adding dark chords to it, giving this ep a darker feeling towards the end. to sum it all up: this is raw house music at its best!
